I have no explanation from my LJ-absence except that I am a lazy ass. Yeah.

*Flops down on nearest soft surface*

I've just got back from 3 days hard core training. Seriously, I've just learnt in one weekend what takes Regular soldiers months.

I wrote my first ever CV today. I feel so... grown up!

Being 18 is weird. I don't normally feel any different, but then I get moments of "Oh wait... I'm 18 now!"

I am now officially Private Smalldiver. *Boogies*

I went to Grantham yesterday and did my medical and did some shooting practice on the electronic firing range - it's much better because you're actually firing at moving people on the screen instead of stationary targets (I wasn't very good though - 39 shots fired from me and I only hit 4 people!)

There was a lot of waiting around - at one point I even sat and watched the women's Wimbledon tennis final - but it was still amazing fun. I met some great people and even swapped numbers with a few.

Then I swore in, got to put my hand on a bible and swear loyalty to Queen and Country etc etc, got a shiny certificate, and voila! I'm in the Royal Logistics Corps (Volunteers).
I am currently...: ecstatic

Me and my parents having a discussion about Commodore Norrington on the way home from the cinema: (spoilers, obviously)

OK, so instead of, you know, revising for the two exams I have tomorrow, I'm traumatising myself by hanging around http://www.freephotosandvideos.com/ I paticularly recommend watching the Wham! video. The hotpants! Oh dear lord, the hotpants!

Edit: Oh God. Mick Jaggar and David Bowie singing Dancing in the Street... I think those two got high one night, grabbed a camera, and set off to do some seriously trippy stuff. It's the only explanation. *Cracks up*

I am so unbelievably fucking angry.

My brother walked into the room where my Gran was and deliberately started winding her up.

She has dementia, among other things, and so she tends to ask questions over and over again or forget what day it is or where she is or who any of us were.

Yes, this can get frustrating, but you just have to grit your teeth and deal with it and answer her questions and listen to her stories again and again and again.

My brother has decided to be impatient with her and answer her questions sarcastically, insisting on being annoyed at my Gran and getting her more and more worked up until she started crying, and still sitting right next to her, ignoring her requests for him to leave the room. It wasn't until I forcefully said "Chris, I need you in the other room" that he left.

And he dares to say to me that he's "Fed up of her", and that he "can't take much more of this."

He's home once a fucking week, if that. I have to deal with her every day and don't let myself get angry at her. Our parents are away, and the only fucking thing I've asked him to do for her is make her an omlette for lunch yesterday, and that was only because he was making himself one.

Am really sleepy. Got no sleep last night. *Yawns*

Anyway, today I had one of my A Level Chemistry exams. It sucked. Of all the sucky things in sucktown, that was the suckiest. It asked all the wrong questions and in the most confusing ways. Grr...

On the upside, the TA FINALLY got back to me, and I'm going on a recruit selection course in a couple of weeks. Whee!!!

Today I was talking to a friend, and she brought up the idea that we could do some travelling together during our gap year.

I won't be able to afford to do a lot of travelling, but if we do some work as well, then I might at least be able to go with her around Europe for a bit. Whee!

What I should be doing:

Revising for my Chemistry exam on Monday
Revising for my other Chemistry exam(s) the following Monday
Revising for my Theatre Studies exam the following Tuesday
Getting some sleep so I am well rested for said revision and exams
Arranging meeting with Headmistress about School Council money applications
Talking to English teacher about Head Girl speech for end of year
Talking to future Head Girl about how things work
Making sure House captains are organised for House events next week
Phoning up TA to ask what the hell is taking so long with my application
Going on a diet
Exercising

What I am actually doing:

Playing on the computer
Staying up till past... *Looks at clock* nearly half-past-midnight so far
Deciding to organise a Leaver's ball with only two week's notice
Chatting to future Head Girl about a mutual friend's new boyfriend instead of anything productive
Avoiding the TA like the plague
Getting distracted by shiny things
Scoffing tic-tacs by the handful
Sleeping in and so not going to the gym
» Whee!
My brother's actually home for the weekend!

Seriously, I haven't seen or even spoken to the guy in almost two months.

Of course, the only reason he's home is because he wants our parents to pay for repairs to his motorbike, but it's still nice that he's home.

*Squishes him*

Good thing about doing a revision timetable:

It makes me look very organised and brainy.

Bad thing about doing a revision timetable:

It means I'll actually have to stick to it.

Today was a friend's 18th Birthday. I was going to pop in for my first lesson, say hi to the birthday girl, and go home again by 10.15 as had no other lessons.

Instead I stayed at school all day, chatting to friends and getting absolutely no work done.

Not what I had planned, but fun all the same.

I've just seen an ad for a new Disney DVD - Barbie is a fairy who gets turned into a Mermaid so she can save the city of the Mermaids.

I've never realised it before, but it all makes sense - the hair, the unrealisticly proportioned body, the perfect boyfriend... Barbie's a Mary Sue!!!

My thoughts, in haiku form:

Drama coursework looms
The week concludes in two days
Panic starts to come.

DAMN I HAVE 6 MORE
PAGES OF DRAMA COURSEWORK
TO DO AND IT’S DUE

IN ON FRIDAY SHE’S
NEVER GOING TO MARK IT
IF IT’S NOT IN THEN

*Ahem*

I drove on the motorway today! To AND from school!

And then at lunchtime I went out for the first time without an 'adult' in the car - just me and a friend. And now I've just been out for the first time on my OWN!

I wanna go driving again!
